Fatima Houda-Pépin tackles the neutrality bill.

According to the former Liberal MP, clothes like the burqa and the chador are symbols of the enslavement of women. The bill on religious accommodation would allow the wearing of clothing such as the chador, the niqab and the burqa by state employees, denounces the former liberal deputy Fatima Houda-Pépin.

Because they predate the birth of Islam, these clothes are not religious symbols but signs of the enslavement of women, protested Ms. HoudaPépin….

«With the face uncovered, it’s the chador. If it is the chador, it must be written clearly so that the deputies know that they are going to vote for the implementation of the chador in the public service of the Government of Quebec. Women fought for equality between men and women, it is not today that we are going to demote because there is a chador walking around in the landscape.

Indeed, Dr. Ali Jumâa, Mufti of Egypt and member of the Academy of Islamic Research: The veil is in no way a religious sign. An opinion confirmed by his predecessor, the former mufti of Egypt, Dr Farid Ouassil, who wanted to set the record straight: We cannot accept that the veil is presented as a religious sign.
